Organising a funeral can be a daunting task, especially in the midst of grieving for a loved one. To assist you through this emotional journey, we provide the following guide:
Decide on the type of service that resonates with you, whether it's a traditional ceremony, cremation, eco-friendly option, or a religious or non-religious gathering. Consider the wishes of your loved one to create a service that genuinely honours their memory.
Personalise the funeral service with meaningful elements like music, readings, eulogies, and any special requests from your loved one. Coordinate post-funeral activities such as receptions and infuse personal touches like photos or keepsakes. We're here to help coordinate all details, from bearers to floral tributes, donations, and printed memorials.
Select a casket or urn, decide on clothing or gowns, and gather personal items for the coffin. Coordinate transportation and determine the cortege's starting point, all while respecting your preferences and budget.
Notify family and friends of the funeral arrangements through newspaper notices, online announcements, personal calls, or messages. Consider creating a memorial website to facilitate the sharing of memories and condolences. If you prefer, we can do arrange all announcements.
During this emotionally draining time, prioritise your well-being. Seek support from loved ones or professionals, recognising that grief is a natural process. Go to our useful numbers page if you feel that further support is required, the charities within this filed have fantastic resources to help you.
Today, funerals can be personalised to reflect the wishes and beliefs of the deceased. Choose between a religious, non-religious, or custom-designed service. Our team will match the right officiant or celebrant to meet your preferences and create a service that fulfils your needs.
Funeral expenses vary based on your choices. We provide a detailed estimate covering costs such as disbursements for the cemetery or crematorium, officiant, church, doctor's fees, newspaper notices, flowers, and more. Our funeral service encompasses various essential elements, and you'll receive an itemised estimate and invoice. Should you be applicable for financial assistance please visit our page for further information.
Disbursements must be settled before the funeral, with a deposit requested within 48 hours after finalising arrangements. Invoices will be sent approximately two weeks after the funeral, with a 28-day grace period for payment. Payment methods include the deceased's bank, cheque, debit/credit card, or bank transfer.
If concerns arise about covering funeral expenses, the Social Fund, part of the Department of Works and Pensions (DWP), may offer assistance. You may qualify for help if you're responsible for the funeral and meet specific criteria related to income and benefits.
Once all necessary preparations are complete, you can share memories and say goodbye to your loved one in one of our chapels. Unlike any other funeral home no appointment is necessary during our open hours. If you would like your loved one to lay in one of our Chapels of Rest before the funeral service, you will be able to visit them in the following times:
Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm.
Saturday between 9am and 12pm.
We understand that not everyone is able to visit in the times above, if you would like to visit outside of our usual opening times, please call us and we will try our best to meet your request.
We understand the challenges of organising a funeral, and our compassionate team is here to support you at every step. Feel free to reach out for assistance as you plan a service that truly honours your loved one's memory.
